Daddy’s Home 2 shares similarities with the initial movie; it isn't particularly remarkable, yet it also doesn’t disappoint. It makes for an acceptable viewing experience, no better or worse. The humor falls short of what would be ideal, though there are a few amusing moments interspersed with some odd sequences, especially toward the conclusion, which felt awkward. Mark Wahlberg, as Dusty, stands out among the cast, and Will Ferrell delivers a satisfactory performance as Brad. Mel Gibson portraying Kurt and John Lithgow as Don join the ensemble. They each have brief instances of success, but nothing substantial; I found Lithgow to be the more appealing of the two. It’s strange, but I spontaneously thought that Kurt Russell would have been a better fit for the role of Kurt – it was only afterward that I realized the similarity in names. Linda Cardellini is adequate in her part. The movie could have benefited from further development, however, it isn't significantly inferior to the first film, which is always a good sign for a sequel.
