It’s an improvement over *‘D2: The Mighty Ducks’*. I consider *‘D3: The Mighty Ducks’* superior to that earlier sequel, but even so, it remains a fairly disappointing continuation. While the initial film is enjoyable, I don't think any of the sequels measure up. I suppose what this one sets out to do appeals to me most, although there’s something about it that feels disconnected from the rest of the series. Emilio Estevez appears in this third movie, at least for a little while. He clearly didn't have much time available, and you can understand why. His performance is acceptable given the circumstances. Then he seems to vanish occasionally, while Heidi Kling (Casey) and Joss Ackland (Hans) unexpectedly return. They weren’t part of the second sequel, which is strange, yet they are reintroduced as if nothing has changed, so their storylines—especially Hans'—don't resonate as strongly. The younger actors, at least from my perspective, deliver their strongest work in this installment. I really started to pay attention to performers like Joshua Jackson (Charlie) and Kenan Thompson (Russ). Jeffrey Nordling (Ted) and Michael Cudlitz (Cole), who plays Abraham Ford, are also fine. A more solid storyline allows the cast to shine, who would have thought it? Overall, this one feels odd to me. It's definitely better than D2, but at the same time, it seems out of sync and a little bit disappointing.
