I found this one too repetitive and awkward. *D2: The Mighty Ducks* attempts a somewhat different direction compared to the first movie, but ultimately feels like a rehash of that same story. The intentions behind the themes are admirable, but they feel much more contrived this time around—and the overall sameness doesn’t help. Emilio Estevez is really the only performer who stands out; the rest of the kids and the antagonists aren't particularly memorable. Certain storylines don't develop very well either, especially those involving María Ellingsen's character. Also missing are some characters from the 1992 film, like Casey (Heidi Kling), and her relationship with her son Charlie (Joshua Jackson) isn’t addressed at all. It might be entertaining for some people as a lighthearted movie, but to me it was an underwhelming sequel to what had been a really good original.
