An FBI agent named Molloy, portrayed by Sylvester Stallone, has spent nearly three years hunting a serial killer responsible for nine deaths, yet remains unsuccessful in apprehending him. The murderer retaliates by targeting Molloy’s close colleague and fiancée, pushing the agent into severe alcoholism. He's then enrolled in a secluded detox program designed to help officers struggling with alcohol dependency. However, before he can make significant progress, his adversary also arrives at the facility, initiating a dangerous game of pursuit that results in violence. The plot feels rather conventional; however, Stallone’s portrayal seems to possess more complexity than some of his previous roles focused on action and aggression. Kris Kristofferson appears briefly as the center's director, attempting to aid Molloy, and a capable ensemble cast maintains a brisk tempo throughout. Unfortunately, the script is weak, and the narrative unfolds in a very predictable manner—it’s simple to anticipate the killer’s identity. It’s an acceptable film, not as poor as many of Stallone's other movies, but likely deserving of its direct-to-video distribution.
