This film isn’t promising, that much is clear from the start. Jean-Claude Van Damme does get opportunities to display his physique, but the rest of the cast seems primarily focused on demonstrating their lack of acting ability; even if they possessed talent, the script itself is so weak that memorizing lines would seem pointless. He portrays "Gibson," a former combatant forced to confront a catastrophic event which has left what was once the United States in ruins, now governed by a brutal system where only the strongest survive, under the control of the “Pirates.” There's hope for a remedy located with scientists working in Atlanta, but to succeed, "Pearl" (Dayle Haddon), who is part cyborg and part human, needs to deliver some data. Simultaneously, the knowledgeable gang leader "Tremolo" (Vincent Klyn) desires the cure for his group and swiftly takes her into custody. With everything set up, “Gibson” and his spirited new companion “Nady” (Deborah Richter) must face what appears to be an insurmountable challenge in attempting to free "Pearl." There’s absolutely no sense of danger throughout; the action sequences are so poorly planned and cut together that they make the 1982 film "Conan" appear sophisticated. The constant cycle within the plot becomes tiresome around the seventh scene, when the protagonist is repeatedly wounded, only to recover as an even more formidable fighter – and he’s not even a machine. Director Albert Pyun evidently had excessive time and resources without investing them in developing believable characters or a coherent narrative, resulting in something that probably won't appear on Van Damme's showreel.
