Cyberbully, directed by Charles Biname and written by Teena Booth, features Emily Osment, Kay Panabaker, Kelly Rowan, Jon McLaren, Meaghan Rush, and Natassia Markiewicz. This TV movie addresses the widespread issue of online bullying. The story follows Taylor Hillridge, played by Osment, a typical high school student who is attractive, has friends, and is starting to show an interest in boys. Eager to participate in the digital world, she creates an account on Cliquester, a popular website where teenagers socialize. Initially, things seem promising; the boy she likes seems interested in her, and she makes a friend online who appears to like her too. However, the person she's communicating with quickly becomes unpleasant, and Taylor’s life at school rapidly deteriorates. It functions as an after-school special but explores serious topics in a way that is suitable for both parents and children, encouraging important conversations. While it isn't flawless – it occasionally feels overly cautious and some moments require a significant suspension of disbelief – the story is effectively told, with clear storytelling and strong performances from the young actors. Although naturally not as impressive as David Schwimmer’s 2010 film Trust, Cyberbully works well alongside that movie. These kinds of films are valuable in highlighting the risks present on internet sites and forums, and it's reassuring to see them being made with thought and sensitivity. The script and screenplay could certainly be improved. However, if even one family watches this and is able to address issues or potential dangers...then its purpose has been fulfilled. 7/10
