I realize this film might seem shallow and uncomplicated to some. It seems like they prioritized flashy action over developing the story's depth. But honestly, I don’t mind! I really liked this movie. Agent 47 is awesome and he delivers a lot of punishment to his enemies. The action is well done, with plenty of high-tech gadgets and equipment. What's not to appreciate? The film begins with a pretty impressive sequence introducing Agent 47. I definitely found myself impressed right from the start. It continues with numerous action scenes, though there are some brief pauses in between. In fact, at least the first half is essentially one long pursuit. I should mention that I haven’t played Hitman and don't really know the original story. From what I’ve seen online, it seems like this might have been to my advantage when enjoying the movie. Some viewers are likely complaining about the acting because Agent 47 doesn’t show much in terms of facial expressions or emotions. But that’s the point! He's supposed to be a cold and emotionless killing machine, so people should stop complaining. I personally thought Agent 47 was an excellent character. There’s one scene in particular that stood out where he deliberately lets himself get captured inside an embassy. Once he’s inside, he starts tearing the place apart—no one watching would be surprised! You really have to see it to understand. The second part, or maybe just the last third, of the film becomes more of a hunt and destroy mission for Agent 47 and his new “partner.” This section is as action-packed as the first half of the movie. Naturally, it all leads to a big confrontation between Agent 47 & Co. The ending itself wasn’t particularly surprising but was still satisfying. The one thing that bothered me about the film was this subdermal armor idea. The concept wasn't terrible, but they really overdid it. Come on! Just shoot him in the head or an eye or some other vulnerable spot for goodness sake. Bulletproof my foot! I honestly don’t understand why this movie has received such a low rating. A 5.7 on IMDb seems pretty harsh. The Rotten Tomatoes rating is, unsurprisingly, terrible. Rotten Tomatoes and their “critics” ratings are the worst of any rating site. That's when I start to get interested—when those guys pan a film. My first step is to look at the real audience ratings, which usually paints a different picture. Anyway, I’m getting off track. The bottom line is that, for me, this is a simple, straightforward, high-octane action movie and I really enjoyed it.
