It’s hard to describe how bad the script truly was, and the performances didn't help matters much either. It felt odd seeing Clint Eastwood trying to play a romantic character; his age really showed. The scenes involving the women pursuing him were ridiculous. He also doesn't have the physicality for action roles anymore. Even the rodeo sequences seemed phony, like they needed a professional rider stepping in. The young actor portraying the rebellious youth didn’t quite capture that spirit, although he did manage to suggest some skill at stealing vehicles. Frankly, if you cherish your positive feelings about Clint Eastwood, it's best to pass on this film and protect those memories.
