The movie was acceptable, though it didn't quite live up to what I've come to anticipate from Eastward's later work. His performance was solid, employing his characteristic relaxed approach and at certain points really holding the film together. However, I found myself noticing some other performances that weren’t as strong. Dwight Yoakum, whose singing I’ve always appreciated, occasionally seemed to recite his lines in a stiff manner. I won't spend too much time pointing out these shortcomings, though. It was certainly watchable. It just felt like the film might have benefited from Eastward pushing some of the actors more during specific moments—perhaps with that mournful look he’s known for, and a nervous gesture toward an imaginary gun.
