I recall being amused by Paul Hogan’s advertisements for ‘Foster's Lager’ when I was younger; his portrayal of Australia and its outback helped him become well-known around the world. While I never sought out the original, which apparently appeared seemingly from nowhere and captivated audiences globally, this one proved to be pleasant and agreeable even if it lacked significance and felt somewhat silly. The humor doesn't last very long, similar to what happened with 'Romancing the Stone’s' follow-up, ‘The Jewel of the Nile,’ or more recently, a lackluster remake of ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding.’ Their effort to replicate that initial success didn’t quite work out. It seems likely that if these characters were real people, their opposing viewpoints would create problems and lead to a separation within just a few years. This kind of scenario functions best only in fictional stories.
