What’s the point of continuing this? The series seems to be following a predictable pattern, now transplanting the story into outer space. It feels inevitable that future entries will move the action somewhere else entirely. The film is simply tedious and illogical. The people involved are uninteresting and lack depth. Significant alterations to their personalities compared to earlier movies don’t make sense. Even the Crites aren't particularly frightening, although one death was a bit more graphic than anything seen before. I believe that’s indicative of where this series has been heading. In the original film, the Crites were the central antagonists and the primary obstacle for the characters to overcome. Afterward, they seem mostly present to trigger events, but no longer represent the main challenge the protagonists face. Other, more immediate concerns consistently overshadow them, diminishing their impact on screen. If you’re watching this hoping for a resolution to the cliffhanger from the third film, I'd suggest it might be better to just picture what happened yourself. It will feel like a complete waste of time.
