Many horror movie series ultimately arrive at the point where they essentially decide, "To heck with it, let's send them into space." That shift feels somewhat more fitting for _Critters_ than some others, given that the creatures themselves originated from outer space. Nevertheless, the time jump is still a bit strange and appears to be something that would likely halt any progress of the series. And indeed, it seems like it did, as 27 years passed before another _Critters_ film appeared after this one, following a run of four movies within just six years. It looks like having humans in space was more crucial for cost-saving purposes than making another installment. However, with Brad Dourif and Angela Bassett both appearing in the human cast, it’s difficult to object too strongly. _Final rating:★★½ - Had a lot that appealed to me, didn’t quite work as a whole._
