The concept isn’t new, yet the unusual presentation and a scientific explanation for the plot offer a fresh take on it. It feels like a combination of 'Face/off', 'Self/less', and 'Hardcore Henry'. While there are some well-executed action scenes, much of the movie consists simply of characters running and pursuing each other. A younger character also plays a central role in how the story unfolds. The narrative kicks off with an American agent dying before finishing his assignment in London. Crucial information from his mind is then transferred to a prisoner who subsequently escapes after surgery. This sets off a desperate search against the ticking clock, as the original mission must still be completed. The rest of the events play out as a quickly moving action-thriller. A trend I dislike in current movies is leaving things open for a sequel—and this film seems destined for that possibility despite being an average box office success. It boasts a strong cast, although many have smaller parts, with the exception of Kevin Costner in the lead role, which proved to be quite demanding. I wasn't even aware it was his movie until after seeing it; he looked like someone else entirely on the poster. He performed admirably alongside everyone else, especially Gal Gadot, whom I recently saw as Wonder Woman and now portraying a regular wife. The film moves quickly, but the plot itself is fairly thin, relying heavily on star power, stunts, and technical proficiency. It’s an alright movie, somewhat enjoyable thanks to the acting performances. 6/10
