"Crime 101" certainly lives up to its title; it feels like a basic, introductory script for an action crime movie or thriller. There's absolutely nothing fresh presented in this film. If you’ve any experience with the genre at all, it will likely seem worn out, predictable, and full of familiar tropes. The presence of recognizable actors doesn’t improve its lack of originality. I got through a bit more than halfway before I realized how precious my time is and that I didn't want to spend it rewatching the same tired story repeatedly, to an excessive degree. Despite having reasonably good production values and featuring performers who are generally competent—though there’s at least one whose work I wasn’t impressed with—this film lacks imagination, as far as I could tell. It was a rather average experience.
