This movie really impacted me growing up, not just because I’ve always wanted a wooden Indian—I still do!—but also because the stories themselves were simply enjoyable. It was genuinely frightening when I was younger. As an adult, it's less scary, but it remains entertaining. I spent my childhood in a rural area during the 1980s, and my parents didn’t shield me from much; they took me to see films like *Robocop* and *Nightmare on Elm Street*, because there was more trust placed in kids back then. It seems that approach is no longer common. I don't have a clear memory of seeing it in theaters, but I do recall watching an animated version of the lake scene. I remember finding it on HBO one weekend and renting it for sleepovers. Those were always successful showings, particularly when the other kids hadn’t seen it before. It was similar to *Evil Dead II* during my high school years: if someone hadn't experienced it, we would rent it immediately because they were sure to enjoy it. It still holds a special place in my memories, and watching it now is still fun, imaginative, and entertaining.
