My expectations weren’t met, either with the protagonist, who presented herself as an expert in understanding unusual people, or with the villain—Bruce, responsible for the murders of 39 boys and men. The main character felt empty when her carefully constructed image was challenged, and Bruce, despite a strong performance in the initial narrative, appeared listless. The conversations were not particularly imaginative, and the ending gave the impression that the filmmakers had run out of ideas—like someone quietly mumbling, “I’m done.” The only saving grace was the very last shot: an expression hinting at potential for improvement.
