This Aardman film has become my top pick, and what’s striking is how straightforward it is. The interviewer playfully mocks those awkward television interviews where people are asked for their opinions, by conducting her segment at a zoo. She speaks with several of the animals; some seem content in their comfortable, modern enclosures, receiving regular meals and care, while others—like the Brazilian lion—clearly require considerably more room, and water suitable for swimming as well as drinking. The chickens really steal the scene, particularly those two in the back who copy the gesture of waving to the camera while another one is describing how good life is when you’re looked after. The conversations are amusingly similar to the anxious, empty remarks people often give when they're being interviewed on television, and it’s truly funny. The stop-motion animation combined with the meticulous detail put into the characters and their surroundings as they share their experiences makes this something everyone should see.
