It’s certainly reminiscent of Alien, and the creature itself isn't quite as impressive. However, there were aspects where this film surpassed its inspiration, particularly concerning the characters. The biggest problem is that it lacked a central figure comparable to Ripley; instead of having either a compelling male or female protagonist, there wasn't a single character who truly stood out. Wendy Schaal performed adequately for what was intended—a smart scream queen—but considering its similarities to Alien, the goal should have been someone more assertive. She did well within the confines of a typical horror movie’s scream queen role, but that isn’t what this film needed after Alien established a different benchmark. Klaus Kinski was the most engaging part of the experience, and it's disappointing they didn't utilize him more effectively; he had the potential to elevate the entire production if given a more substantial role—he was genuinely enjoyable to watch. Ultimately, the movie falls short due to its underdeveloped characters and absence of a truly compelling lead. Despite that, it remained entertaining enough to warrant a 10-star rating because movies are fundamentally meant to be enjoyed.
