Hayle’s journey begins as she travels toward Florida, intending to find out why her father isn't responding to her attempts to contact him, with a storm brewing in the area. Upon arrival, she discovers her father has been injured and their home is encircled by alligators acting aggressively. Adding to the danger, the storm brings flooding that simplifies the gators’ ability to pursue their prey. While the film features impressive visual effects, the plot's inconsistencies are remarkable. The alligators demonstrate an unrelenting efficiency in killing people, quickly dismembering victims before they even realize what is happening. In contrast, the main characters sustain only minor injuries from alligator attacks that realistically should have caused much more severe trauma, like lost limbs. This happens repeatedly and becomes so obviously unrealistic that it ultimately diminishes any enjoyment of the film.
