It’s an enjoyable film, one I wouldn’t mind seeing again, and I feel comfortable suggesting it to others. I was impressed by the performers in this picture, and it seemed like casting Christina Applegate was essential for portraying her character effectively. The central theme of the movie revolves around ideas of masculinity—what it means to "be a man"—and explores how that’s intertwined with female influence and manipulation within relationships. Domhnall Gleeson convincingly portrays a “loser,” demonstrating his acting abilities throughout, which really drives the narrative forward, particularly when compared to Thomas Haden Church. I'm not sure when he became the go-to guy for representing American masculinity, but he certainly pulls it off. The plot isn’t overly complex; much of the film feels repetitive, like a constant echo of “I’ll Make a Man Out of You,” yet it has a certain appeal and shows growth in all the characters. It's not time wasted, but there are countless other movies available, so I understand if you choose something else that receives more widespread praise.
