It’s certainly packed with action, but not much thought went into it. When you really get down to it, this is an action movie that provides the expected punches, explosions, and impacts. Even if you're willing to switch off your thinking skills for a film of this type, the writing is subpar, and so is the acting. The fight scenes aren’t great either, which feels like a real mistake considering Jet Li and Mark Dacascos are leading the good versus evil storyline. The story puts Li’s tough detective alongside DMX’s city thief as an odd couple tracking stolen diamonds and DMX’s daughter's abduction—and that’s essentially all there is to it. There's no effort made to develop the characters or inject some emotional resonance into what should be a serious situation. The film often feels worn out, like a rehash of countless other movies in the same vein; originality has been completely abandoned. They even brought back Tom Arnold to play a watered-down version of his character from True Lies. Gabrielle Union and Kelly Hu are present to provide some eye candy in roles that offer them nothing substantial, while Dacascos hardly makes an impression as the main bad guy. Ultimately, it’s uninspired and repetitive—a pointless experience for everyone involved. 4/10
