Many western films depict sheriffs requesting people to surrender their weapons upon entering – this one demands something similar, but with your intellect. Any attempt at close examination reveals plot inconsistencies that are remarkably noticeable, surpassing even the vocal power of singers like Aretha Franklin or Jennifer Hudson. Nevertheless, when approached casually, it functions as a brisk action film centered on a standoff within a police station. Gerard Butler ("Viddick") and Frank Grillo ("Murretto") find themselves in a perilous situation, separated from the unhinged "Lamb" (Toby Huss) by a rookie officer named "Valerie" (Alexis Louder) and a reinforced door. The reason for their predicament becomes apparent early on, and as the story progresses, the suspense increases, culminating in a reasonably well-timed – though somewhat unbelievable – finale. Alexis Louder deserves most of the praise; she delivers a genuinely commendable performance. Otherwise, it’s essentially an opportunity to relax while watching characters whose fates are largely unimportant—with the possible exception of hers.
