Freddy Heflin, played by Stallone, is just an everyday sheriff leading a rather uneventful existence in the small community of “Cop Land.” Life moves at a snail’s pace for this large officer whose duties mainly involve directing traffic and indulging in pinball. When trouble unexpectedly arises, Freddy finds himself drawn into it alongside Lt. Moe Tilden, portrayed by Robert De Niro. It appears to be a significant turning point for the sheriff who's been feeling stagnant. I really have to give Stallone credit for setting aside his usual physique—something he’s diligently kept up for many years—and taking on a part that’s quite unlike his typical action hero roles. His performance is notably stronger than what he delivered in films like Get Carter or D-Tox.
