It's not a terrible film considering its production values. This fits among the more agreeable lower-budget horror and zombie movies released around 2015. Typically, when actors are highly sought after, there’s an expectation for their films to be exceptional, but this particular narrative felt well-matched to the cast involved. Sometimes a simpler story can benefit from featuring performers who aren't necessarily A-list stars. I wasn't entirely taken by surprise at what unfolded on screen, though I did find it entertaining. Rainn Wilson is central to the film, while Elijah Wood handles the narration duties. The children in the movie function as the villains, but given its R rating, the tone avoids anything overly intense or disturbing. Any depictions of harming children were handled with a certain level of care. The humor isn’t laugh-out-loud funny; it's simply agreeable and provides a shift in the storytelling. Aside from the zombie kids, the rest of the movie doesn’t offer much that feels fresh. It follows a familiar formula—a group of people attempting to survive an outbreak—and the initial setup lacks logical coherence, so don’t anticipate any clear explanations for what's happening. The film's length is shorter than 90 minutes, which is a plus. Ultimately, it's an enjoyable movie if you're willing to accept it for what it is rather than what you might hope for. 6/10
