I can’t say definitively, but it seems my parents brought me to see this film when I was just eleven years old, and they appeared at least uneasy about it, especially considering they had taken me to Batman Returns only a short time before. Revisiting the movie after three decades, it struck me as something designed for viewers under the influence because I honestly couldn’t make sense of what I was watching. There's also a distinct impression of studio meddling, contributing to a muddled storyline—particularly at the beginning—and not helped by characters who lack depth and performances that feel exaggerated. Brad Pitt seemed to be questioning his decision to participate, even though it was early in his career. Kim Basinger’s portrayal of Holli Would was enjoyable, without question. And Gabriel Byrne just looked bewildered throughout. The combination of animated and live-action sequences felt rough compared to something like Who Framed Roger Rabbit; although some of the physical sets did possess a certain visual appeal. I'm unsure, but this is one that others may find worthwhile, though it’s unlikely I would choose to watch it again anytime soon. 2.5/5
