The tagline "When a girl has a heart of stone, there's only one way to melt it. Just add Ice" immediately signals how absurd this film is. I went into it expecting that, but my main reason for watching was hoping for some laughs, and on that front, it delivered. There are so many things to notice – his effortless charm, the bright pink pants, and a bicycle let him defy gravity when leaping over fences, cars, and through buildings. He’s constantly dropping fancy words alongside attempts at rap slang like "Yo-yo, whatsup?", “sex me up,” “you know, the chick that drives the horse," and of course, “drop that zero, get with the hero.” Wherever he appears, he brings a sense of cool to everything, confidently stepping onto a stage at night in sunglasses to rap before awkwardly grinding on the girl he’s been pursuing, who is still clearly dazed from being thrown off a horse earlier because of his actions. The movie had a budget of 6 million dollars back in 1991 – which would be around 11 million today – and most of that went to pay him 1 million dollars and another 4.9 million for his clothes and accessories, leaving very little for the rest of the production. Still, it's worth a watch; it’s funny because it’s so bad, it damaged the director’s career for eight years, and it was pulled from theaters after only three weeks. It plays like an E.T. video game brought to life on film.
