It was incredibly dull. *Coogan’s Bluff* is a truly awful movie; not even Clint Eastwood manages to make it worthwhile. I'm usually hesitant to label something as sexist, but this one crosses the line, particularly early on with jokes that involve depictions of sexual assault, domestic violence, and even rape. Even beyond that, the storyline itself feels incredibly lackluster. Very little occurs during the initial portion of the film, and when events do unfold, they don’t develop in a satisfying way. This problem persists throughout the entire 93-minute runtime; the only scene I'm likely to recall is the chase sequence, which was well done. Eastwood delivers an acceptable performance as the lead, though it felt awkward at times. His “fish out of water” routine becomes grating, and so do the repeated gags. It’s hard to name any of the other actors who made a significant impression; maybe Lee J. Cobb, if I had to pick someone. I wouldn't suggest watching this film.
