There’s something about medical thrillers that I find appealing; I think it has to do with a childhood filled with illness and appreciating classics like 'Coma' and 'Outbreak'. Also, I recall the worry my son's mother and I shared when he was born during the SARS outbreak in 2003. So, naturally, whenever one of these movies appears, I’m likely to check it out. Soderbergh seems capable of handling this kind of story well, approaching it from numerous perspectives – some expected, others not – while managing to keep everything together within a reasonable length of time (certainly not something you'd see from Bay). The cast is strong enough to hold your interest as well. A good medical thriller should make you reconsider certain choices, like infidelity, or even simple things like discarding tissues, and Soderbergh’s film accomplishes that goal.
