The film presents an intriguing concept, focusing on "Andrej" (played by Matej Zemljic), a young man struggling to find his place. Unable to cope with him, Andrej’s parents and school send him to a detention center, where he first clashes with, then befriends "Zele" (Timon Sturbej). Zele operates as the local drug dealer, loan shark, and general troublemaker; while Andrej is rebellious, he's not that kind of person – he’s devoted to his pet rat. Their connection deepens when Andrej develops an infatuation with Zele, eventually becoming his enforcer. The question arises: Is Andrej simply being exploited as a pawn by Zele, who seems fully aware of his friend’s feelings and even occasionally encourages them, or could something genuine develop between the two? Zemljic delivers a strong performance, portraying his character's confusion, search for identity, and desire for connection. Sturbej is also effective in his role as the manipulative companion. However, the narrative feels somewhat directionless. Darko Sante might have strengthened the story by giving the main characters more time together, not necessarily of an intimate nature, but to better understand how Andrej so easily became entangled in this situation. The conclusion was predictable, and I felt disappointed by its abruptness; it eliminates any sense of hope or positivity. While the production values and direction are adequate, I still believe it’s worth seeing.
