This movie ended up being enjoyable, even more so than Captain America: The First Avenger, which we saw recently. It has received some pretty low ratings, but I certainly don't share that opinion. The film turned out to be largely what I was anticipating. I looked at some reviews on IMDb claiming Conan only spoke around 40 words, that he wasn’t “barbaric” enough, and that the fight sequences were edited in a way that didn't show much actual fighting. However, those claims don't reflect reality; the film is considerably more violent than Schwarzenegger’s version, sometimes in a very brutal manner. I’m not sure what people were hoping for, but this movie satisfied me completely. While I worried that I might miss the older Schwarzenegger films, I didn’t feel it as much as I thought I would. The special effects were decent, and the 5.1 DTS Master Audio soundtrack was well-executed. I'd give it a 7 out of 10.
