I have a serious appetite for movies like *Green Berets*, and I’m feeling pretty ravenous right now! *Commando* comes from director Mark L. Lester, with the screenplay by Jeph Loeb, Matthew Weisman, and Steven E. de Souza. The cast includes Arnold Schwarzenegger, Rae Dawn Chong, Dan Hedaya, Vernon Wells, James Olson, David Patrick Kelly, Alyssa Milano, and Bill Duke. The score is composed by James Horner, and Matthew F. Leonetti handled the cinematography. John Matrix (Schwarzenegger) used to lead a covert commando unit that tackled the most difficult missions. He’s pulled back into service when his daughter (Milano) is abducted by criminal mastermind Arius (Hedaya) and his crew of henchmen. They want him to commit an assassination, but all he wants is to rescue his daughter – he has only a few hours before they will harm her, so it becomes a personal vendetta. Following roles in “Conan” and “The Terminator,” Schwarzenegger took on a part that would become characteristic of his action movie career. *Commando* delivers over-the-top action sequences, intense violence, gruesome deaths, memorable one-liners, and obviously exaggerated villains. At just 90 minutes long, it’s an ideal film to switch off your mind and enjoy with a crowd. Chong has a strong role as the female lead, portraying a spirited character who develops alongside the increasingly wild plot, while Milano plays a clever child. It's certainly not meant to be taken seriously, but that doesn’t matter when you want to watch Arnie take down an entire army single-handedly. It’s genuinely entertaining. 7/10
