The movie had an appealing and inventive starting idea. I found *’Comfort and Joy'* to be enjoyable. Bill Paterson carries the story with assurance as Alan; he’s entertaining in the central role. Patrick Malahide (of *'Game of Thrones'* and *'Luther'*) appears, while Alex Norton and Roberto Bernardi both do a good job with their parts. The rhythm felt slightly uneven for me, particularly around the middle, but aside from that it's an agreeable film released in 1984. It’s worth seeing if you have the chance.
