The director’s apparent stylistic choices don't elevate the film; instead, they highlight some poor execution. The writing suffers similarly; what might have been intended as realism comes across as dullness. There are scenes like Aaron Paul struggling to speak on the phone and fragmented conversations with friends asking if he’s seen her—yes, it’s clear she’s missing. The entire movie could realistically be condensed into a short film of about fifteen minutes without losing anything. The leads lack the charisma needed for a full-length feature, even though Aaron Paul is undeniably talented and shines in television work. An early sequence involving him and his girlfriend separately arriving at the same address, discovering they both live there, and finding a photo suggesting a past connection initially piqued my interest, but that plot thread ultimately felt like a setup for nothing. "Come and Find Me" is a misguided take on the missing person narrative. If you’re looking for this kind of story done well, "Gone Girl" offers strong directing and writing that will keep you engaged.
