"Colors" seems mainly focused on portraying the violent world of guns and gangs that affects urban areas, where young people find themselves living to survive rather than striving for something more positive. The narrative and characters are quickly lost, and although the depiction of this dangerous gang culture occasionally offers some interesting and revealing moments, relying solely on it as the foundation for the entire film proves to be a significant flaw—unless the goal is to create a documentary examining these serious social problems. Otherwise, what remains is essentially an overextended movie that isn't quite as meaningful or perceptive as it believes itself to be, which unfortunately holds true in this instance.
