I’m happy I decided to view it, although it wouldn’t have been a big deal if I hadn’t. Of course, you can't really judge something until you see it yourself. The movie started out wonderfully; I truly mean that for the initial 40-45 minutes. There were so many unexpected turns and exciting moments that I almost felt bad about potentially overlooking it. However, things went downhill when Jim Bob Luke appeared in a very elaborate introduction—the story seemed to lose its way after that. The strongest parts of the film had already passed; my interest waned, and I began wondering why it turned out this way following such a promising beginning. This was especially true for Dane’s character, who's presented as a family man, because his decisions didn't make sense. Like Dane, I really wanted to know who he shot, but the story wasn’t going to answer that and instead went in an entirely different direction, which left me feeling let down. The actors were great, but the script was disappointing; it needed a lot more explanation than simply telling a good story. It's an independent crime-thriller adapted from the novel of the same name, taking place in the 1980s. I wouldn’t say the film was terrible, but I only really enjoyed the first half. 6/10
