Robbie Amell’s appearance isn't enough to excuse his performance; he seems completely devoid of expression. The premise holds promise: everyday individuals develop abilities, yet remain targets of government agencies. His character struggles financially due to his mother’s costly medical care and takes on odd jobs, which leads him into a group involved in crime where he utilizes his electrical powers for their schemes. This entanglement places him between law enforcement and a drug trafficking operation. Stephen Amell abandons the bow and arrow for this project, portraying the head of a ruthless gang known for double-crossing anyone. While the film maintains a brisk tempo with some well-executed action sequences and serviceable special effects, the acting feels lifeless and the plot borrows heavily from lesser X-Men stories.
