The movie is lovely, vibrant, and gentle. There’s a genuine warmth to this film, delivering important ideas about how families ought to support one another. The voice performances are excellent, as are the songs—they don't rely on musical numbers to explain everything, unlike some of Disney’s more overtly musical projects. I appreciated being able to see actual guitar chords during the music; it’s common for live-action films to have those moments feel fake, but that isn’t an issue here. A highlight for me was how Mexican culture was portrayed. While I enjoyed _Moana_, I felt it blended too many Pacific Island cultures together instead of focusing on one specifically (Maori). This film really honors and represents Mexican culture well. The only thing I would have liked to see more of was depictions of traditional Mexican food. It does get a bit intense at times, so parents might want to consider that when watching with young children, but it should generally be enjoyable for the whole family. 9/10
