Woody Norman delivers a noteworthy performance in what’s otherwise a fairly standard horror film. The story centers around an eight-year-old boy who begins to perceive sounds emanating from the walls of their old house. His parents initially attempt to reassure him, but things shift when his teacher, "Miss Divine," portrayed by Cleopatra Coleman, presents them with a drawing he created at school, creating an uncomfortable tension within the family. As the knocking transforms into a girl’s voice—a voice that begins urging him to be more assertive—it becomes clear that nothing about the house is what it seems. There are numerous hidden truths! The final twenty minutes provide some entertainment, though they don't offer anything particularly new; these kinds of elements have been utilized repeatedly before. While a sense of justice is served in a satisfying way for brief moments, there’s a lack of real danger, and the only sounds I noticed were cries for another installment. It’s challenging to create something truly fresh; originality within this genre proves difficult. This film falls short in that respect and, unfortunately, seems destined primarily for Halloween television viewings because it blends into so many others.
