The premise isn't groundbreaking, but I believe that’s intentional. It establishes itself early on as a playful imitation of numerous films within its category, and I found it genuinely enjoyable. We begin with the familiar setup: a father and daughter struggling to cope with a past loss, followed by their relocation to an aging house in need of repair, before the daughter heads off to school dressed for a "Rocky Horror" themed event. “Quinn” (played by Katie Douglas) quickly integrates herself into the town’s lively group, guided by the attractive “Cole” (Carson MacCormac), which understandably frustrates her father (Aaron Abrams) and many of the prominent figures in the community. This group likes to drink and create humorous horror films featuring a clown emerging from the cornfield, subsequently posting them online. The situation escalates when one such gathering proves to be more significant than initially perceived, creating a palpable sense of danger for these teenagers. What follows is familiar territory—you’ve likely encountered it many times before—but this time with a self-aware tone; there's an (easily spotted) development in the romantic storyline and the overall feel evokes “Scooby Doo” meets a “Klu Klux Clown.” Expect plenty of exaggerated screaming, chainsaw action, sewer exploration, and a remarkable amount of ketchup or corn syrup splattered around as the story progresses. Don’t anticipate award-winning performances; however, if you appreciate it as an amusing send-up of its predecessors, then I think it's quite entertaining, and perhaps there could even be another installment.
