I wasn’t expecting much from this film initially, as the storyline didn’t immediately click with me. It took a while to realize the focus was on gay themes, though that isn't its sole subject; it emerges gradually through various plot developments. Essentially, it deals with growing up and exploring one's sexuality. The movie also effectively demonstrates how environmental factors shape an individual’s character. Even seemingly minor incidents or childhood games can have significant consequences, especially for a personality like the protagonist’s. What unfolded on screen felt believable, possibly reflecting real-life situations. Parental influence on children’s development was also explored, and instances of poor parenting were brought to light. I found it disappointing how the father's character arc concluded. That point made me question who I should be supporting; it seemed like no one was truly at fault. Instead, a build-up of guilt and frustration led to emotional outbursts and regrettable actions—a central focus of the film. The acting was strong, and the cinematography was well done. It’s among the better LGBT films I've encountered. While it resonated on a realistic level, it didn’t particularly inspire me. Perhaps it functions more as an awareness film. I think watching it once is worthwhile, but not essential viewing because of the many challenges the protagonist faces and how they shape who he ultimately becomes.
