This fast-paced political story involves former partners (Eric Bana and Rebecca Hall) working to represent a man accused of terrorism (Denis Moschitto), finding themselves embroiled in a shadowy government plot endangering their safety. Initially released, it was considered unremarkable, with similar stories handled more effectively. Looking back now, nearly ten years later, the notion of a powerful organization monitoring individuals and removing perceived dangers for what they believe is the greater good doesn’t seem quite so unrealistic. The film's direction and acting are both solid. The writing avoids excessive action sequences, instead creating an atmosphere of mounting anxiety in a believable way, and the main actors make their predicament interesting to follow. Some problems with how quickly things move along prevent it from being considered the definitive political thriller of our time, but it remains quite good.
