A group of French dancers are lodged in an educational facility for several days and choose to celebrate after practice while a severe snowstorm is happening outdoors. Someone puts something into the drinks, and things quickly spiral out of control. The dance sequences are captivating, the imagery mesmerizing, the acting both authentic and exaggerated, and the escalating disorder and violence striking and unforgettable. Extended camera movements, including one that goes on for over 40 minutes, track the dancers as they succumb to the drugs and lose any semblance of composure. It's a terrible, unsettling, dreamlike movie that I wouldn’t suggest to anyone, and likely won’t revisit myself, but it was remarkably good. It makes me want to experiment with psychedelic drugs, yet simultaneously never do so again. Consider yourself cautioned; this is an extremely disturbing film, the most intense one I've encountered in a very long time.
