Cleaner functions as an action-thriller and fulfills the genre’s fundamental expectations, though it doesn’t manage to distinguish itself. The film benefits from Daisy Ridley’s dedicated performance, however, Martin Campbell’s skilled direction isn't enough to obscure a screenplay that feels familiar and explores its themes without delving very deeply. Ultimately, it provides about ninety minutes of agreeable diversion, but it’s unlikely to stick with viewers amidst the many films inspired by Die Hard. Rating: B-
