Michael Keaton takes on a serious role as a broker struggling with substance abuse who enters a rehabilitation facility—though not to get better. A gradual understanding dawns on him that his presence there might have significance, yet his prideful demeanor consistently creates internal conflict. Drawing from my own experience with sustained sobriety, I’d say this film comes remarkably close to depicting the reality of addiction. People aren't perfect; they are often broken, isolated, and frustrated individuals, but there is a chance for positive change within many lives. The movie features solid performances from supporting actors like M. Emmet Walsh, Kathy Bates, and Morgan Freeman early in his career. It’s worth seeking out if you can locate it.
