GenerationofSwine on Class of 1984

I’m thinking back to 2020, and I realize how much I miss films like this one. It feels like Hollywood has really lost its way; they aren’t producing anything worthwhile anymore... though whether *Class of 1984* is genuinely worth watching is something else entirely. It probably just comes down to what you're in the mood for. What we truly need now are those filler movies—a whole lot of cheap, low-budget exploitation films. They’re necessary to support and fund the more expensive productions. Perhaps that would prevent Hollywood from seeming so hostile toward audiences who didn’t bother seeing their disastrously unsuccessful big-budget flops. I certainly won't spend $25 on a ticket to see some reimagining of a childhood favorite, where they’ve swapped out characters based on gender and race, crammed in an obvious political agenda, and forgotten how to tell a story or develop a plot. However, I am willing to pay a small amount to stream a low-quality exploitation film—one without any particular message, a minimal budget, and a plot designed purely for fun and enjoyment. *Class of 1984* fits that description; it’s the kind of movie where you can simply relax and be entertained for an hour without having to endure anything that's supposedly off-limits due to political correctness. This is the sort of film where making jokes while watching is practically expected—it belongs in the direct-to-video market, intended for viewing at home because a little audience interaction enhances the experience. That’s what I’d happily pay to see on a rainy afternoon. The plot isn't great; it features the comedic actor from *Rip Tide*, and it’s over-the-top and ridiculous... in other words, it’s pure escapism. And ENTERTAINMENT is precisely what movies should be.
