Eastwood’s performance is what makes *City Heat* pass muster, though the film itself isn't particularly impressive. Burt Reynolds works well alongside Eastwood, even if his character feels less developed than Eastwood’s—who is clearly the best thing about the movie. The supporting cast doesn't offer much beyond those two leads; Richard Roundtree and Rip Torn are acceptable, but that’s about it. I appreciated the 1930s aesthetic, which was a definite high point. It isn't exactly a film destined to stick with you, and arguably should be more noteworthy because of the pairing of the two main actors, but I still consider it an okay way to spend some time.
