Among Uwe Boll’s works, Citizen Vigilante stands out as surprisingly insightful and well-crafted. The movie centers on an American living abroad who begins a brutal campaign against lawbreakers, with Armie Hammer delivering a noteworthy performance. It avoids simple resolutions, prompting viewers to consider the consequences when trust in established systems breaks down entirely. Despite its potentially off-putting elements—the intense brutality and commentary on politics—the film remains captivating due to its visual flair, touches of dark comedy, and willingness to address challenging subjects. Those who appreciate vigilante films from the 1970s will likely find it worthwhile.
