It’s common to hear people call this film the best ever, and while I think it’s wonderful, I’ve personally enjoyed other movies more. Citizen Kane centers on Charles Foster Kane (played by Orson Welles), a newspaper magnate who passes away uttering the single word "Rosebud." A reporter then begins speaking with those who knew Kane in an attempt to decipher its significance. Through these recollections, we witness various stages of Kane’s life. I don't share the belief that it represents cinema at its absolute peak; still, I find it genuinely enjoyable and love this film. It was quite bold and sparked debate when it was released, and it brought several innovative techniques to filmmaking. The performances are generally excellent – Orson Welles as Kane is truly remarkable, and Joseph Cotten delivers a strong performance as Jed Leland. However, Dorothy Comingore’s portrayal of Susan Alexander just doesn't work for me; I find it quite unpleasant! The script is fantastic, and Welles’ direction is exceptional. Ultimately, this is a great movie—though not the greatest ever made. It's certainly something everyone should experience. I rate it 9/10.
