It’s a straightforward, charming, and gentle movie. Christopher Robin (played by Ewan McGregor) is now grown up, married, has a daughter, and finds himself stuck in a dreary job in London when Winnie-the-Pooh turns up out of the blue. He returns to his childhood places in Hundred Acre Wood with Pooh to locate his other plush companions. Hayley Atwell and Bronte Carmichael portray Christopher’s wife and daughter, respectively. "Christopher Robin," which came out in 2018, is a perfectly acceptable adaptation of A.A. Milne's well-known characters, presenting the unusual angle of an adult Christopher reconnecting with his childhood friends and rediscovering uncomplicated happiness. The idea of breaking free from a demanding job and regaining your creative spark brings to mind films like “Joe Versus the Volcano” (1990), "City Slickers" (1991), and countless others. The stuffed animal characters are incredibly endearing, the plot is easygoing, and the English scenery is beautiful. I would have liked a more engaging narrative, but it seems the filmmakers intentionally kept things uncomplicated. The film has a running time of 1 hour and 44 minutes and was filmed entirely in England (London, Berkshire, Kent & East Sussex). GRADE: B-/C+
