It’s just boring. In my view, virtually everything about *'Christmas Tree Lane'* falls flat. It felt like an obligation to watch it from beginning to end; each moment was foreseeable and/or awkward. The film has an inflated sense of importance, which isn't helped by the unremarkable performances and a complete lack of connection between the main characters. Alicia Witt and Andrew W. Walker are passable actors, but neither delivers anything noteworthy or deserving of recognition. The other performers aren’t much better either. I enjoy lighthearted holiday movies, but this one lacks any real substance. The storyline is so transparent that it delays the central point for a significant portion of the movie. When it finally arrives, the solution feels rushed. This basic idea has been done countless times – some originality would have been nice, particularly for something released in 2020.
